Suit was brought against me by my former college for unpaid tuition & room and board. I enrolled at Calvin University when I was 17 and had a poor understanding of financing education, and was unable to obtain loans sufficient to pay for my education, resulting in me having to leave the school after 1 semester. I was working full time and the majority of my income went to rent payments. During the pandemic, I fell behind on my rent and became reliant on moratoriums and emergency assistance, and I was unable to make extra payments towards prior creditors. In December 2022, I was served paperwork for this case, which I settled with Calvin University in April 2023. One of the agreed-upon facts & terms of the settlement is that, to quote the agreement- "No written contract for Tuition, Room and Board has been identified by Plaintiff or Defendant." I submitted a payment of $3,000 to the firm representing Calvin University and the case was "Dismissed with Prejudice".
