I was young, had left the college town (and rental unit) where I was living & moved back in with parents; at the time, I did not yet have a professional job, so I didn't have the money/resources to close out the balance in full with the original creditor. Regretfully, I let the matter go unattended for quite some time until I was pursuing appointment with an insurance carrier at which time they instructed me to close out the balance before they would approve appointment, which is exactly what I did. The matter is now (and has been for almost 5 years) fully resolved.

When I was in college, I had a credit card issue to me through Capital One. Over time, I maxed out the credit card and was unable to make payments due to unsteady income as a student. Unfortunately, the matter was left unattended, and eventually, the balance was "charged off" and sold to a collection agency: Portfolio Recovery Associates, LLC. I reached out to them in August of 2017 and settled for less than what was owed $1,755.30 down from $2,300). A repayment agreement was made between us that I would repay $292.55/month for 6 months (August 2017 - January 2018), and the matter was fully resolved as of January 15, 2018.
